Four Seasons: Summer Harvest Dance

Part Two of my Four Seasons project: Summer Harvest Festival (the Harvest God).

Summer is strong, fresh, and bountiful, representing the fields and harvest. He is based on the designs of a grasshopper, corn, and Oberon the Fairy King. After he leads Spring offstage, he gallantly prepares the fields for harvest after his daughter has renewed the Earth and brings out a bountiful harvest. After he is done, he leaves the stage to rest, his work having been done.

He was actually the hardest to come up concepts for. Originally, I had a girl with a ladybug look, but when my teacher told me I had to have two male and two female designs, I had to scrap lady ladybug and fall maple leaf. Might decide to show concept arts for them later. Anyways, he was hard because I don't associate a lot with summer other than green, and Fall has more and kept stealing ideas from him. His face is actually a bit based on the design for the character William Jones from the Victorian anime/manga series "Emma." Like to personally think he would be called Edward in this case.

Songs I think of for him: Mussorgsky's Promenade, Camille Saint-Saëns's Introduction and Royal March of the Lion (from the Carnival of the Animals suite), Dance of the Hours - Midday (Disney's Fantasia).
